Sixty-five-year old Bibi Zarjan is paralyzed on one side of her body and sits on her bed for most of the day. When fighting broke out in Swat Valley, she and her bed were transported the two hundred kilometers to Islamabad by truck. Her family of farmers and daily wage workers now struggle to pay the hefty rent and avoid ending up in tent camps. Many Swat residents are proud Pashtun tribesmen who regard living in tents as below their dignity.
